When wandering through the grounds Evan comes across a strange staff sticking out of the ground. Pulling it out resurrects Leonard the witch's son who with diseased ravelled features is looking for revenge and a new face. The bodies start piling up when the electric man comes to put on the mains and the couple's friends arrive.
Jennifer is told the story of the house by local whacko Mr Peck played with over the top glee by Weekend at Bernie's Terry Kiser but it is all too late as Leonard is now on the rampage...
Mask Maker is a nice little slasher with plenty of violence (in particular a truly horrible throat slashing) some decent acting and a great killer in Leonard (Jonathan Breck - The Creeper in Jeepers Creepers) who likes to steal people's faces. It's also welcoming to see an appearance by genre legend Michael Berryman (as a good guy) who for someone we all know is a great screen villain has an incredibly calm friendly voice.
A nice nod to the past (with a Friday the 13th Part 2 plot point 'borrowed') it's an eighties style film in a modern setting complete with the two 'B's - blood and boobs. Can't get much better than that, can you?
