Mandrake

 

Deep in the South American jungle, a team of scientists and adventurers are hunting for a lost sacred dagger.  Unfortunately for them they find it rather quickly and unleash an evil plant monster who goes on the rampage.

It doesn't help that the locals aren't pleased with them doing this and as well as a distant cousin of a triffid after them, they have a load of spear welding - sacrifice loving natives chasing them as well.

Lots of disposable characters, some nice CGI and good locations make this an above average creature feature. Gory at times so perhaps not suited for the kids but it's all harmless hokum made from a large slice of cheese.
